National Tree Day is an Australian environmental initiative aimed at promoting community planting of native trees and shrubs. It is organised by Planet Ark in association with Toyota.
National Tree Day is an inspirational event that has been a major annual project for Toyota since 1999 and it's just one of the many environmental initiatives Toyota has undertaken to preserve and improve the environment.
Toyota's involvement in National Tree Day reflects its efforts to support the environment through community involvement, as well as ongoing innovations in technology such as the hybrid Camry. This will be the first commercially-available hybrid vehicle that is manufactured in Australia.
Last year more than 290,000 Australians supported National Tree Day! Our own Dealer Network supported National Tree Day within their local communities which helped contribute to a total of 1.2 million trees, shrubs and grasses being planted across Australia by more than 290,000 Australians including 220,000 school children.
On Sunday 27th July 2008, Australians will come together once again to plant native trees in their local areas. School's Tree Day will be held two days earlier on Friday 25th July 2008.
So don't forget to roll up your sleeves, get your hands dirty and get involved.
It is just another way that Toyota is working for the environment.
